Writing Your Own Obituary with Angela Mennitto

Have you ever considered writing your own obituary? In this two-part workshop, we will cover the basics of a traditional newspaper obituary and then we will explore telling your life story with your obituary.
At our first session, we’ll share a few fun/unusual obituaries; talk a little bit about different formats (editorial obituaries such as the New York Times and The Economist versus paid obituaries in your local paper) and start thinking about what you might want to include in your obituary. We’ll get back together after the holidays to have people share what they’ve drafted.
To bring with you…
- If you happen to have an obituary you saved that you particularly like, please bring it to read to the group for inspiration
- Be sure to bring pen and paper…while you won’t be writing your obituary in the class, you may want to take notes as we’re talking
- Start thinking about three things for which you want to be remembered.
